How we got started
Achieve Biz Clarity was founded in 2016 by Nia Hartwell after she spent fourteen years running her own recruitment agency in South Wales. She grew that agency from a spare bedroom to a team of nine, made plenty of mistakes along the way and eventually sold the business in 2015.
The sale went well. But what stayed with Nia was how many fellow business owners she met who were stuck in the same patterns she had been: working sixty-hour weeks, afraid to hire, guessing at their margins and feeling guilty every time they took a holiday. Most of them did not need a consultant to write them a strategy document. They needed someone to sit with them regularly, look at the real numbers and help them make better decisions week by week.
That is what we do. We are not a management consultancy. We do not produce slide decks. We sit across the table from you, ask hard questions about your business and hold you accountable to the answers.
What we believe
These are not slogans on a wall. They shape how we run sessions, what we charge and who we take on as clients.
Numbers first
Every coaching conversation starts with your financial data. If you do not know your gross margin, your break-even point or your average debtor days, we find out together before we discuss anything else. Feelings about the business matter, but feelings without data lead to bad decisions.
Short commitments
We work in 90-day blocks. No twelve-month contracts. If we are not delivering value by the end of a quarter, you should stop. This keeps us honest and keeps you in control.
Honest feedback
We will tell you when we think you are undercharging, avoiding a difficult conversation with a team member or chasing the wrong opportunity. That is what you are paying for. A coach who only agrees with you is not a coach.
Owner wellbeing
A burnt-out owner makes poor decisions. We pay attention to your working hours, your stress levels and whether you are actually taking time off. Business growth that costs you your health is not growth worth having.
The team
We are a small practice by choice. Every client works directly with one of us, not with a junior associate.
Nia Hartwell
Founder and lead coach
Nia ran a recruitment agency for fourteen years before founding Achieve Biz Clarity. She holds an ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring. Her specialities are pricing strategy, owner time management and exit planning. She has coached over ninety businesses since 2016.
Marcus Rees
Associate coach
Marcus joined in 2020 after spending eight years as operations director at a manufacturing firm in Bridgend. He is a qualified ACCA accountant, which means he can read a set of management accounts faster than most coaches. His focus areas are operational efficiency, team structure and cash flow forecasting.
Lowri Bowen
Client coordinator
Lowri manages scheduling, client communications and the diagnostic report process. She has a background in project management and keeps everything running on time. If you call or email, Lowri is usually the first person you will hear from.
Credentials and affiliations
ILM Level 7 accredited
Nia completed the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 7 programme in Executive Coaching and Mentoring in 2016. This is the highest coaching qualification offered by ILM and requires a minimum of 100 supervised coaching hours.
ACCA qualified
Marcus holds full ACCA membership, giving him the ability to interpret financial statements, tax returns and management reports at a professional level. This means our coaching conversations are grounded in accurate financial analysis rather than rough estimates.
Federation of Small Businesses member
We have been FSB members since 2017. This keeps us connected to the policy environment affecting small businesses in Wales and gives our clients access to FSB legal and HR advice lines when they need specialist support beyond our scope.
